Goosebump Moments: Treasured Memories Restored

We live for the goosebump moments. It’s what we call that combination of joy and tears when someone sees their beloved belonging brought back to them and feel the additional layer of care and respect we brought to the task. We know we’re not just restoring items, but bringing home your cherished memories.

This newsletter we’re proud to present a collection of goosebumps moments, brought to you from multiple FRSTeam communities around the nation.

No Monkeying Around

When Carly at FRSTeam of Utah brought a treasured monkey back from the brink, it moved the owner to record her thanks on video. “I appreciated how much they constantly checked in with us throughout the process,” said the homeowner. “And knowing our stuff was in good hands.” Watch the video and see what happens when you care so much about making a difference.

Who Knew This Was Even Possible?

Sometimes a buried treasure is right under your nose. FRSTeam by Milto’s Cleaners in Indianapolis, IN took so much care cleaning a lifetime of accumulations, that the owner broke out her stationary and penned her heartfelt thanks.

Your Belongings Matter Deeply To Us

When disaster strikes it’s never easy. It’s even worse when the fire spreads to your home from a neighbor’s out of control barbeque. We felt so much empathy for the distraught homeowner and made it a point to treat each of her keepsakes like the treasures they are. FRSTeam by Cappy’s of Baltimore, MD received this letter of appreciation:

“Dear FRSTeam by Cappy’s,

Our home and belongings were victim to a fire that started at a neighbor’s townhome and quickly spread to our home and two other homes in the development – I was always a bit of an emotional mess regarding so many of our personal items.

Many items, like those that are in the homes of most families, were keepsakes…and irreplaceable.

So…thank you for doing what you did so that you could return to me the American flag (in its display case no less) given to my mother after having draped my father’s casket before his burial at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Thank you for the careful and gentle cleaning and return of several special hand-made throw blankets and Afghans. Along with these special heirlooms, you even recovered our coffee maker!

We will never forget your compassion and thoughtfulness, and for your care of our “stuff!”

With much appreciation,

– Victoria “Vicki” Willman, Sue Wert, and Mattie (our fur baby dachshund)”

Preparing your home for the summer months ensures it remains safe and comfortable. Follow these tips to get your home ready for the season:

  1. Inspect and Clean Air Conditioners:
Ensure your air conditioning units are clean and functioning properly to handle the summer heat.
  2. Check and Maintain Outdoor Lighting:
Replace any burnt-out bulbs and consider adding motion sensors for added security.
  3. Clean Gutters and Downspouts:
Remove debris to prevent blockages that can cause water damage during summer storms.
  4. Test Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors:
Ensure all detectors are working correctly and replace batteries if needed.
  5. Create a Fire Safety Plan:
Develop and review an emergency fire safety plan with your family, including escape routes and meeting points.

Summer Grilling Safety

Grilling is a beloved summer activity, but it’s important to prioritize safety along with amazing meals. Prevent accidents with these essential tips:

  1. Keep the Grill Away from Structures:
Place your grill at least 10 feet away from your home, deck railings, and overhanging branches.
  2. Clean the Grill Regularly:
Remove grease buildup to prevent flare-ups and potential fires.
  3. Never Leave the Grill Unattended:
Always keep an eye on the grill while it’s in use and keep children and pets at a safe distance.
  4. Check for Gas Leaks:
For gas grills, check the propane tank hose for leaks before using it each season.
  5. Use Proper Tools and Techniques:
Use long-handled grilling tools to avoid burns and ensure the grill is completely cooled before covering or storing it.
