Tips for Summer Storms

This month you’ll meet the family behind FRSTeam Franchisee of the Year. They’ve been going strong for 3 generations and were quick to give credit to their excellent team. In addition to getting to know this amazing team, you’ll take away some tips for dealing with summer storms.

Meet FRSTeam Franchisee of the Year!

Congratulations to John and Kaelah McIntosh of FRSTeam by Apple Cleaners. Based in St. Louis, MO, this father and daughter duo are the 2nd and 3rd generation of a family business started in the 1950s. Known throughout the community for their expertise, the family was the official drycleaners for the St. Louis Rams and the St. Louis Battlehawks.

The Family Behind Apple Cleaners

“We’re a 70 year old company,” said John McIntosh. “We started in 1950 with my father, and I’m enjoying that my daughter is joining the business.”

This appreciation for family extends to the company itself. “We’ve had some of the same staff for 20 to 30 years – longer than I’ve been alive,” said Kaelah McIntosh.

Supporting Employee Growth: Promoting from Within the Company

When Apple Cleaners joined FRSTeam in 2014, they trained and promoted existing team members. “We wanted to keep that tight family-knit environment,” said Kaelah. “We want our people to know we’re invested in them and their growth.”

Restoration is Meaningful Work

“When you understand that someone can lose all their belongings all at once, you see the emotional side of things,” said John. “We share that our job is to help people get to a better space. We let our employees know that no matter what role they’re playing, they’re making an impact on a person’s life.”

Kaelah agrees. “Working in the field of restoration opens up more of an emotional impact of your work. It gives our teams a sense of meaning.”

Congratulations, John and Kaelah! We’re proud to have you with FRSTeam.

Challenges with Storms and Important Tips for Homeowners

You can’t control the weather, but you can try to minimize damage.

  1. Protect your home. Make sure your gutters are clear of debris so that rainwater can flow freely away from your home. Also check your roof for any loose or damaged shingles that could be torn off by strong winds.
  2. Document everything. If your home has been impacted by a storm, document the damage with photos and contact your insurance company as soon as possible.
  3. Consider investing in flood insurance if you live in a flood zone.

Stay safe and protected during storm season. If you’ve suffered from storm damage, reach out. We can restore your electronics, hard contents, or soft contents and put you in touch with outstanding partners to take care of any property damage.
