FRSTeam History

FRSTeam’s story goes back to 1988, when Harry Meekma was working for a local contractor in the Bay Area. He saw a critical need to help families save their clothing after a loss or damage, so he founded Custom Commercial. Shortly thereafter the Oakland Hills Fire struck and brought national attention to the need for garment restoration, accelerating the company’s growth.

Custom Commercial expanded across several states including Washington, Oregon, and Colorado, earning a strong reputation for compassionate service and technical expertise. It became clear that insurance carriers and customers needed a unified national solution with consistent standards and reliable support. In 2006, Holly Murry, Courtney & Jim Nicholas, and Ryan Meekma founded the FRSTeam franchise system to expand these services at a national level with a mission to restore what matters most.

Over the years, FRSTeam has evolved and adapted to the needs of the industry:

1988

FRSTeam was founded by Harry Meekma in the Bay Area.

2006

FRSTeam expanded nationally in 2006, bringing a personalized and efficient service to everyone involved in the claims process.

2018

FRSTeam expanded into electronics restoration.

2021

FRSTeam launched full content restoration, which offers a complete, integrated solution for carriers, contractors, businesses, and families during property losses.

Today, we are a trusted national partner that delivers fabric, electronics, and contents restoration with empathy, expertise and consistency, helping families get their lives back on track and support businesses to minimize downtime.
